Due to the excellent climate many types of outdoor activities can be enjoyed in Puerto Del Carmen throughout the year.

There are public tennis facilities located in the Faro Centre in Puerto del Carmen, where you can pay daily to use tennis courts, sun beds and swimming pool facilities.

The extraordinary landscape and rugged terrain make it a fascinating place for trekking. Hill walkers may find other islands more challenging, but ramblers will be in their element on Lanzarote.

Over the past ten years water based activities such as surfing, water skiing, parasailing and diving have become increasingly popular. You can try these out with the help of several activity centres scattered along the length of the beaches, each with their own qualified instructors and backed by a network of professional clubs and associations.

Fishing is also very popular. You can go surf fishing and pier fishing or go on a deep sea fishing excursion that could have you wrestling with 1000lb Bluefin Tuna, Hammerhead Sharks and Blue Marlin.

The six kilometer-long Atlantic beaches of golden sands in Puerto del Carmen are undoubtedly the main attraction for so many holidaymakers coming to the resort every year.

The waters are considered among the most tranquil of the Archipelago and can be enjoyed by swimmers and other water sport enthusiasts.

On the other hand many other parts of the coast also provide sufficient wind for sailing and windsurfing.

The beaches and seas of Puerto del Carmen fly the Blue Flag of the EEC awarded for purity and cleanliness.

The resorts main street, Avenida de las Playas (beach avenue) is lined with shops, restaurants, bars and night clubs along its entire length. It houses over one hundred restaurants with food to suit every taste and every pocket.


Boutiques and bazaars are stocked with everything from local arts and crafts to duty free electronics and designer clothes.

A walk along this beautifully landscaped promenade enjoying the sea breeze whilst admiring the scenery is an absolute must.

The Iron man Triathlon, a major international athletics event takes place on Puerto del Carmen’s beach promenade each June on with the winners qualifying for places at the world finals in Hawaii.
